It’s that time of the year where rain is few and far between, and the blistering summer sun is out in full force, sucking the moisture out of your soil and making life tough for your precious lawn. The good news is you’ve got an underground lawn sprinkler system from M.A.G. Irrigation, and you’ve got everything you need to beat the summer heat right at your fingertips.
With just a few quick changes to the settings on your controller, you can be certain your lawn and flower beds are getting enough water to make it through the hottest days of the year!
The first thing you’ll want to check is your watering frequency. In the spring, when the days are cooler, shorter, and rain is somewhat plentiful, watering once-a-day every other day is the norm, but once those temperatures rise you’ll want to make some adjustments until things cool down!
First off, while for some, watering every other day is still adequate, those of us new, unestablished lawns, or those with little-to-no shade may want to consider a daily watering schedule (and, if that’s still not enough, twice a day!) . Make sure you’re watering in the early A.M. (and if twice a day, just after sunset).
Secondly, you’ll want to adjust your watering times as, typically, those are much shorter in the spring. Consider 25-30 minutes on your Hunter PGPs, and 10-15 minutes on your mist heads!
Every lawn is different, so you may have to experiment with settings to find what works best for you, but, as always, if you’ve any questions or need any tips, feel free to contact us and we’ll be glad to help you find the settings that best suit your property!
Enjoy your summer!
